Membership Requirements

NCTA Membership is open to testing professionals in colleges, other post-secondary settings, and testing companies.

Membership Types and Dues

All NCTA memberships must be renewed annually. Types of membership are:

Corporate Not available $800* Open to any company involved in testing-related activities.
Affiliate $145 $425 Open to individuals who have a professional interest in the field of testing but who do not fit into the other membership categories.
Collegiate Emeritus $25 Not available Reduced-dues membership available to Collegiate members after retirement (Proof of retirement required).
*a listing on the NPN may be added for an additional $150.00.


Joining NCTA

You may join online by visiting our Enrollment Form. Once you have enrolled, follow the instructions to view and print your invoice. Invoices may be paid using the methods listed below. As of February 1, 2025, NCTA discourages use of paper checks for payment.

NCTA provides its members numerous opportunities to network and to get involved in the organization. Collegiate and collegiate individual members are encouraged to consider working on a committee and/or nominating themselves for service as a board member.

  • Annual Conference - An educational experience focusing on professional presentations on testing-related topics and providing an opportunity for attendees to meet with a number of NCTA's corporate members/vendors for up-to-date information on their products and services.

  • Membership Directory - A current listing of our membership, a valuable resource for members seeking professional contacts and for test companies looking for new test centers.

  • NCTA Proctoring Network - The NCTA Proctoring Network is a listing of NCTA Collegiate and Corporate members who offer testing services to students taking Distance Learning courses through any college and seeking a secure location to take a proctored test. The listing, organized geographically, provides contact information for the participating College Testing Centers along with details for arranging a proctored testing session.

  • Mailing List - An opportunity to post questions and concerns to the NCTA membership, receive feedback in the form of comments and advice, and respond to queries posed by others.

  • Webinars - Quarterly opportunities to participate in and/or later access virtual presentations on topics of interest to the NCTA membership.

  • Test Center Certification - An opportunity for NCTA collegiate and corporate members to undergo a thorough self-evaluation of an institution's testing center according to specified criteria in order to earn recognition of and additional validity for the test center on both a local and national scale.

  • Testing Standards and Guidelines - The Standards and Guidelines are recognized by NCTA as "best practices" and serve as a model for test centers in the delivery of quality testing services.

  • Networking - An opportunity to discuss various issues regarding test center management and create professional contacts with colleagues from around the nation and abroad via the annual conference and the mailing list.

  • Committee Involvement - Numerous opportunities to serve as a volunteer on a broad range of committees that further the growth of NCTA and help to plan and execute the many programs and events of/for the organization. Volunteer opportunities for members can be found under the Resources tab.
