The NCTA Mailing List (formerly Listserv) is an e-mail based discussion group for all NCTA members. Participation is not mandatory, but over 85% of our members subscribe to the list. This gives members the opportunity to collaborate and discuss issues on a spontaneous, ongoing basis with a large percentage of the NCTA membership.

Any testing-related topic is acceptable.

Sending a Message

You can manage your mailing list subscription from the My Membership section of the website, under the My Features tab in your profile.


Because the NCTA is a professional organization and we want the mailing list to be a useful tool without becoming burdensome, the following guidelines have been established for mailing list use. Please remember, however, that these guidelines are solely intended to maintain professional etiquette and not to inhibit professional discussion on the mailing list.

  • Please maintain the image of our organization by posting e-mail with professional content.
  • Describe the content of the email clearly on the subject line.
  • Sign all e-mail with your name, your institution's full name, location, and other relevant contact information.
  • Use a new email for a new topic rather than replying to an unrelated email.
  • Send messages that say, "I would like this information too" to the sender of the original email only, not to the entire mailing list.
  • Use professional judgment when asking questions of the membership.
  • As time permits, research your topic before you ask others to do so.
  • Do not promote personal endeavors or achievements on the mailing list.
  • Mailing List discussions involving pricing information must protect the confidentiality of contractually protected information and may not serve to set prices across geographically proximate institutions competing with similar service offerings.
