Good Morning NCTA,

On behalf of the Governing Council, the Nominating Committee announces the opening of nominations for the 2021 election of board positions.  In accordance with the bylaws, the Nominating Committee collects and reviews nominations and compiles the final ballot. Voting will take place in June.

This year there are four seats to be filled; three Governing Board openings and one President-elect.  Each Governing Board seat represents a three year term while the President-elect represents a four year term on the Governing Council beginning with the August 2021 conference and ending with the 2024 conference.

Interested candidates must be collegiate members in good standing and, if elected, are expected to attend three meetings per year.  They are also expected to participate actively on the Council and serve as leadership in one of the six divisions.

Nominations for both elections open Monday, February 8th and will close on Monday, March 1st at 8 PM EST/5 PM PST. Candidates will be announced when voting begins early April.

The two elections are as follows:

Election #1: NCTA will be electing three Governing Board members who will serve a 3-year term beginning with the 2021 conference and ending with the 2024 conference.

Governing Board members follow a three year board cycle. The cycle is as follows:

  • Year 1- Junior Co-Chair; Mentee to Incumbent Division Head
  • Year 2- Full Division Head
  • Year 3- Senior Co-Chair and Division Head; Mentor to Junior Co-Chair

Election #2: NCTA will be electing a President-Elect. The President-Elect will serve a 4-year term beginning with the 2021 conference and ending with 2025 conference.

To be nominated for either election, individuals should either nominate themselves or have a fellow NCTA colleague nominate them. All nominees should be able to show NCTA involvement in areas such as committees and conferences, leadership qualities, and a willingness to participate actively in the Governing Council of NCTA.

Those elected are expected to attend three meetings per year, which usually includes an in-person meeting at the conclusion of the conference, a virtual meeting in late fall, and an in-person meeting in spring. Travel expenses and a per diem are provided for the spring meeting.

Nominations will continue to be accepted through Monday, March 1st.

Interested in nominating yourself or someone else? Submit the following to [email protected] no later than Monday,  March 1, 2021.

  • A cover letter describing why the nominee should be considered for service on the Governing Council
  • A current vitae or resume if self-nominated or a description of leadership experience if other nominated
  • The names of 2 NCTA colleagues who can address the nominee's relevant experience and qualifications to run for the Governing Council

NCTA is a great organization thanks to the service of its members. I encourage every collegiate NCTA member to consider running or to nominate another member this year.
